Danielle dreams of Swede success

Preston North End goalkeeper Danielle Gibbons will be gunning for glory when she takes part in the Youth World Cup in Sweden this
month.
The former Runshaw College student is among the 18-strong England Colleges squad which will be jetting out to Gothenburg on Sunday.
The youngster is England’s first choice between the sticks and will line up against the host nation in their opening group game on Monday.

Gibbons said: “I’m really looking forward to it, I can’t wait. It should be a really good experience.”
The Three Lions have been drawn in a group containing two Swedish teams and Poland, but the tournament boasts sides from footballing super powers including Spain and Argentina.

However, the 17-year-old shot-stopper is confident of success.
“I think we have got a good team and should have a good chance of winning,” she said.
Gibbons, who is off to study at the University of Central Lancashire in September, has made three appearances for England - keeping two clean sheets - after impressing in a series of trials.

She has played football since the age of 10 and currently plays for Preston North End’s women’s team.
Gibbons, who supports both North End and Chorley and gets down to Deepdale when she is not playing or working, is hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Lancastrian, Burnley’s Rachel Brown.
“I play for Preston and we are hoping to get promoted to the National Premier Division this season.
“My dream is to play for the England women’s senior team like Rachel.”
